Our Philosophy

We have a clear set of beliefs which guide our staff team that has been selected for their positive attitude and generous spirit. As good parents, we do all we can to prevent our young people from running into danger.

The acronym NICHE represents our core values and truly reflects our ethos, providing the central theme for everything that we do:

We celebrate the positive and will always try to find some good to end a difficult day. We strive to operate a ‘no fail’ policy whereby we lead our young people to raise their expectations of themselves with achievable, progressive tasks.

Diversity & Individuality

We encourage a culture of mutual respect. We celebrate and encourage diversity. Every individual is unique. We believe that it is important to learn to value and respect the contribution of those with different personalities and skills.

Clear and consistent boundaries are important and we set and maintain these. We are careful to avoid any action that can be seen as rewarding negative behaviour.

We review the individual progress of each resident at ‘Internal Review Meetings’ held every six weeks.

A Therapeutic, Trauma-Informed Model

Our care is built on social pedagogy, an approach that integrates care, education, and therapeutic practice. This model puts relationships at the heart of everything we do. By combining everyday living experiences with therapeutic support, we create opportunities for young people to learn, heal, and develop both life skills and emotional strength.

Our homes are deliberately small and homely, with spaces that feel safe and personal. Each young person has their own bedroom they can personalise. The shared spaces are warm, inviting, and designed to foster a sense of community.

Positive Outcomes

We act as good parents to our children and focus on positive outcomes, providing an environment where children can thrive. We are big believers in fun and instil this in all that we do. We provide education for the children within our home, delivered by our excellent team of qualified teachers, and we offer support in the classroom too. We take part in activities and new experiences for the children, from trips to the seaside and visiting the cinema to horse riding and walks in the countryside.

We work as a team and do things as a ‘family’. We cook together and share meals together, we take part in the usual day to day running’s of any typical household such as keeping on top of the laundry or a spot of light gardening. This is all part of our therapeutic practise, teaching the young people we care for, key skills and traditional family values to support their growth and wellbeing.
