Acorn Cottage

A nurturing therapeutic home for young people aged 10–16

Set in the peaceful Suffolk countryside, Acorn Cottage is a large, family-style home with space for up to four young people. Inside, every room is warm and welcoming, with shared areas for meals, creativity, and connection. Each young person has their own private bedroom, which they are encouraged to personalise – a safe place to call their own. The garden and outdoor space offer opportunities for play, reflection, and time in nature.

Personalised Support

Every young person has an individualised care plan developed with them, their social worker, and our team. This ensures their unique needs, strengths, and goals are always at the centre.

We adapt staffing, routines, and activities to provide consistent guidance and encouragement. Each young person is also supported to pursue hobbies, sports, and creative projects that help them grow in confidence and sense of self.

Education

Acorn Cottage is a DfE registered school, offering GCSEs in core subjects, with small class sizes and specialist teachers. Every timetable is personalised to meet individual needs, including support for EHCPs.

We combine academic study with creative and vocational options, helping young people re-engage with learning in a way that is meaningful and confidence-building.

Our Therapeutic Approach

At Acorn Cottage, we follow a therapeutic model rooted in social pedagogy, placing relationships , care and shared learning at the centre. We take a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, supporting emotional, physical, social and educational needs through trusting relationships, empowerment, creativity and community experiences.

Young people benefit from nutritious meals, positive routines, therapeutic support, active lifestyles and creative therapies such as eco-therapy and art psychotherapy in natural spaces, helping them build skills, confidence and lasting wellbeing.
