Meet The Team
We are one team – our care staff, teachers and therapists work together to provide support for the whole young person.
Management
Carmel – CEO
It has been humbling and hugely rewarding to work in an industry with people who are motivated by being decent, people who really want to give back and who commit themselves to making a highly impactful difference to young peoples lives.
I am building an incredible team, empowering the right people and trying to make a difference to my team’s lives and to the young people whom we care for.
Gorton – Head of Education
Chelsea – Director of Care
As the responsible individual for gable end, i couldn’t be prouder of both the young people and the dedicated team who support them.
Every visit to the home is filled with joy, warmth, laughter and inspiring stories of what the young people have been up to, what they have been learning and new places they have been. The commitment, care and genuine passion the team brings to their work is truly inspiring.
We are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful staff and even more wonderful young people!
Our Educators
Lloyd – Teacher
I have worked as a teacher with the company for the last 10 years and absolutely love the way the care staff can change roles and act as lsas in the classroom with the young people in our care.
Sometimes they act as students, sometimes role models or sometimes just by sitting alongside them they are able to help to inspire the young people.
Although not always confident in the subject themselves the staff are able to demonstrate a positive attitude that helps to get the best possible results for the students.
Nadine – Teacher
Teresa – Teacher
Our Carers
Gabby – Home Manager
I’d describe myself as bubbly, empathetic and fair. What I enjoy most is creating a safe and nurturing space where young people can feel secure and start to thrive. Working in a children’s home felt like the right path for me because I wanted to make a difference. For me, that means helping to give young people better opportunities and experiences so they can look forward to brighter futures.
Away from work, I enjoy spending time with friends and heading out for a nice lunch. A fun fact is that I have a degree in dance, which often surprises people. I’m also a big Formula One fan, which is a slightly different kind of passion!
If you asked the young people about me, I think they’d say I’m fun, helpful and caring.
Tori – Deputy Manager
I’m creative, funny and caring, and I love seeing young people grow in confidence and start to believe in themselves. Those little milestones, no matter how small, are what make my day. Working in a care home for young people felt like the right choice because I wanted to give young people the safe, supportive home I would hope for my own child.
When I’m not at work, I’m usually spending time with my toddler, catching up with friends or heading to the cinema. And here’s a quirky one for you: my guilty pleasure is a chocolate digestive topped with a slice of cheese…don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!
I’m also a big fan of Mario Kart, which makes for some very competitive afternoons with the young people. If you asked them to describe me, I think they’d say I’m silly, kind and fair.
Lisa – Team Leader
I’m empathetic, dependable and positive and I love seeing young people’s personalities shine as they grow in confidence. Every day is different, and it’s incredibly rewarding to be part of their journey, especially when they start recognising their own strengths.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me up at the stables with my daughters or out walking our six German Shepherds. A fun fact about me is that I collect different Monopoly board games, even though I rarely play them!
Uno is my favourite game, simple but guaranteed to bring laughter, especially with all the new variations around. If you asked the young people to describe me, I think they’d say I’m kind, funny and trustworthy.
Ruby – Team Leader
I’m positive, nurturing and funny, and I love seeing young people’s personalities shine through as they grow in confidence. It’s the little moments that make me smile the most like a shared joke, a new achievement, or a moment when they feel proud of themselves.
When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me spending time with my daughter, enjoying good food, or sneaking in a cheeky visit to B&M. A fun fact about me is that I’ve travelled to a few different countries and got up close with some amazing animals. I’ve walked with lions, fed baby monkeys and even bathed elephants at a sanctuary.
I’m not much of a game player, but I love anything involving singing and dancing, so pass me the mic and I’m there. If you asked the young people to describe me, I think they’d say I’m fun, relatable and supportive.
Jess – Senior Youth Mentor
Liam – Youth Mentor
I’m caring, patient and fun, and I love seeing young people’s personalities shine through. Being part of their journey as they grow and develop into adults, and celebrating their achievements along the way, is incredibly rewarding.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy relaxing with friends and family, going for a nice walk and eating good food. A fun fact about me is that I once met Ed Sheeran in Tesco, which was an unexpected highlight!
I’m a big football fan, both playing and watching, and if it comes to board games, I’m all about Monopoly. If you asked the children to describe me, I think they’d say I’m kind, supportive and funny.
Geraldine – Youth Mentor
I’m peaceful, loving and playful, and I love having the opportunity to enhance young people’s experience of life by weaving in joy, love, innocence and softness. Being part of their journey and seeing them flourish is incredibly rewarding.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time in nature with my daughter, always with good music playing. A fun fact about me is that I lived 11 years in Hong Kong and I have a spiritual Teacher, which has shaped a lot of my outlook on life.
My favourite way to stay active is outdoor yoga and breathwork, which keeps me grounded. If you asked the young people to describe me, I think they’d say I’m calm, a good cook and, hopefully, kind.
Millie – Youth Mentor
I’m happy, bubbly and caring, and I love seeing young people’s personalities shine through as they grow. Getting to know each of them and all their little quirks makes every day different and incredibly enjoyable.
When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me relaxing in the sunshine with a good book or some music, recharging my energy. A fun fact about me is that I absolutely love gherkins and can happily eat a whole jar in one sitting!
At the moment, I’m really enjoying padel, especially when I can play in the sunshine. If you asked the young people to describe me, I think they’d say I’m fun, kind and supportive.
Laura – Night Awake Youth Mentor
I’m caring, curious and diligent and I love having the opportunity to share my love and care with young people. Being part of their journey and seeing them grow is incredibly rewarding.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family. A fun fact about me is that one of my favourite Portuguese dishes is spicy snails, definitely worth trying if you’re feeling adventurous.
I enjoy a good game of Trivial Pursuit and if you asked the young people to describe me, I think they’d say I’m kind, quiet and always busy cleaning.
Charmaine – Peripatetic Team Leader
Tracy – Bank Youth Mentor
I’m compassionate, resilient and good humoured and I love seeing young people grow and develop, especially when I’ve been able to support them through tough moments. Much like my work as a paramedic, it is incredibly rewarding to see them thrive after a difficult start in life.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending my money in Home Bargains or B&M. A fun fact about me is that I have quite a multicultural family. My Nan was from Italy and my grandad was from India, so I was lucky to grow up around different traditions and food.
I enjoy a good game of Dobble or Cluedo and if you asked the young people to describe me, I think they’d say I’m approachable, understanding and have a good sense of humour.
Sandra – Bank Youth Mentor
I’m loving, kind and helpful and I enjoy showing young people kindness, help and love, giving them my full attention and time. Being part of their growth and daily lives is incredibly rewarding.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy swimming or watching a good film. A fun fact about me is that I like making unusual meals for people to guess and try.
Swimming is also my favourite activity and if you asked the young people to describe me, I think they’d say I’m happy, loving and fun.
Claire – Youth Mentor
Nova – Therapy Dog
I’m fluffy, wiggly and loyal and I love seeing young people smile, especially when it’s because of me. I also love the cuddles, the giggles and yes, even the crumbs on the floor.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy napping in a sunny spot, rolling on my back and dreaming about chasing squirrels. A fun fact about me is that I once stole a sock and carried it around proudly for a whole day. Best toy ever.
My favourite activities are fetch and tug-of-war, though fetch always comes out on top. If you asked the young people to describe me, I think they’d say I’m soft, silly and a friend.
Ben – Youth Mentor
Josh – Senior Youth Mentor
Zak – Team Leader
Marlvin – Bank Youth Mentor
Our Admin
Kerry – Admin Manager
As a proud mum of two grown-up boys, I know how important strong foundations are in guiding young people in the right direction. While I may not be on the front line, I love seeing the amazing work our staff do every day to enrich the lives of young people and being part of that journey.
On the admin side, no two days are ever the same and I’m definitely kept on my toes, but that is exactly what keeps it exciting.
I’m also a massive animal lover and if my husband would let me, I would have a whole hoard of animals of every species running around the place. For now, I make do with long walks with my dogs, plenty of family time and catching up with friends.

I joined Niche having spent 20+ years in an entirely different industry and it’s been absolutely amazing. I’m truly humbled by the work that the team do, the difference they are selflessly making to these young individuals lives.
The therapeutic approach they take combined with the genuine family environments ensures that they maximise the positive outcomes they all strive to achieve.
